Our People

A. Christina Tari LLB LLM
Tax Litigation Counsel

Christina Tari is a tax litigation lawyer who has practiced exclusively in the field of taxation since 1987. She was called to the Bar in 1984. Her role in Scitax is helping clients appeal wholly or partially denied SR&ED claims through Notice of Objection and/or Tax Court of Canada processes.

From 1989 until 1997, she was a tax litigation counsel with the Canadian Department of Justice where she represented the Crown in Tax Court of Canada and other legal actions pertaining to taxation. From 1998 through 2002, Christina served as a member of the Appeals Advisory Committee that provides guidance to the Canada's Minister of National Revenue on various matters of taxation law.

In addition to representing taxpayers before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada and the provincial courts, Christina regularly achieves negotiated settlements for her clients through Notice of Objection and pre-trial settlement conferences.

Christina is a past chair of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Tax Section and is the author of several tax-related legal publications including Butterworths Federal Income Tax Litigation in Canada. She is an instructor for the Law Society of Upper Canada's Bar Admission Course, and an adjunct faculty member of York University where she is a team leader and judge in the annual Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop sessions.
